ROOTED - Friday, September 23, 2022

We are taking a break from Wesleyan this week.  Makayla, our Student Ministries Director, will be writing our ROOTED devotions this week.  Enjoy!

The power of thanksgiving

Colossians 2:6-7

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

Reflection

It’s football season! And for many, that means deeply reclining in a favorite chair, grabbing a cold beverage, and, yes, instantly becoming flustered and on the edges of our seats when our team begins to fall behind because the game is a gamble and victory is not promised in football. How great is it that we can merrily come back the following week for the same blithe risk and carefree little joys of life because the King of the universe has already claimed eternal victory? God’s immense power, unwavering promise, and intentional establishment is rooted in each of us who receive Him. The moment we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior is the exact moment a strong foundation is laid for us to grow and be built upon, providing a sturdy place to plant our feet and shout to the Lord in thankfulness. How wonderful is it that we are covered in perfect protection even though the battle is already won; let us overflow with thankfulness that we will not be defeated.

Prayer

Wonderful and mighty God, I praise Your majestic name with utter gratitude and thanksgiving for who You are. You are the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, and the battle belongs to You. You are the only source of true power, and I am thankful that Your mighty hand is upon my life. I thank you for Your perfect wisdom, grace, and mercy, for I do not deserve them. Thank you for loving me and never giving up on me. In Your mighty name, Amen.
