This week we wrap up our conversation on handling money God’s way.  We continue to read the Scriptures for wisdom and insight into our pursuit of generosity.

When the preacher preaches on money, we may be tempted to tune out or avoid the conversation.  But money talk should be an ordinary part of everyday life when we are following Jesus.

Not only that, Pastor Brad reminded us that knowing WHO the message is from makes all the difference.

I Timothy 6:17-18

17 Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.

18 Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others.

Who is this teaching for?  Those who are rich in this world.

Who is delivering the message?  The preacher!  In this case, Timothy the young pastor.

Who is the message from?  The Lord!

In worship, after reading the Bible, we sometimes say, “The Word of God for the people of God… thanks be to God!”

This message about generosity is not merely from the preacher or from the leaders of the church, it is from the Lord himself.

How does it change things for you knowing that it’s GOD calling you to a life of generosity?

Generous God, remind me that the Scriptures are a word from you, delivered to me by the church, handed down generation after generation so that I may know your truth, and live it.  So help me, Lord, to be generous, and give me everything I need to bless others today.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
