On this anniversary day of one of the worst terrorist attacks in the history of the world, we take a moment to pause and reflect. Give thanks to God for our lives. Pray for peace and healing in our nation, that God would cast out all fear and division and, in their place, bring unity.
Terrorist attacks and pandemics and hurricanes remind us that we are never truly safe from chaos and violence in this life. Seat belts and medication and bubble wrap only provide a measure of protection. Much of what happens to us is out of our control. So where can we go for help?
Consider the last verse from this week’s study:
21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
NOW is the time to call on the name of the Lord. Because EVERYONE who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Brothers and sisters, salvation is breaking into our world. Salvation is breaking into our world through the grace of Jesus Christ the Lord, and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Do you realize this… God wants to save the whole world! God wants to save every person. Every man woman and child. It’s exactly why the Father sent the Son from heaven to earth. To be born of Mary, to live a life of virtue and service, to die on a criminal’s cross, and to rise again on the third day to show that God has defeated sin and death and that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved!
O God, in this very moment I call on the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ. Jesus, I beg you: forgive my sin, save my soul, give me new life, and lead me into the world for the sake of your gospel. I pray in your name, Jesus. Amen.
