ROOTED - Tuesday, May 24, 2022

Any Christian will tell you that we don’t walk between raindrops. A Christian is not spared grief and pain. We live in a fallen world.  One of the greatest spiritual realities is that God allows His children to suffer, so that they may learn the grace and mercy and love that only He can provide.

Jeremiah 17:7-8

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,

whose trust is the Lord.

He is like a tree planted by water,

that sends out its roots by the stream,

and does not fear when heat comes,

for its leaves remain green,

and is not anxious in the year of drought,

for it does not cease to bear fruit.”

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord…..when heat comes….in the year of drought.”

The blessing isn’t being spared the heat and drought. Trusting the Lord in obedience and faith doesn’t provide a “get out of trouble” card. No. Trust in God results in peace in times of trouble. A peace that says, “God is my rock and my fortress, in whom shall I fear?”   The blessing of trust in the Lord is knowing that we have a loving heavenly Father that has promised to use all things for our good – for those that Love God. Deep roots not only produce fruit of service for others. Deep roots of faith also keep you secure and safe in the Lord.  What are you doing to grow your roots of trust and faith? Feeling a little thirsty? Draw near to God, and He WILL draw near to you.

Heavenly Father, thank you for providing all that we need to not just survive, but to thrive as your children of faith. Forgive our lack of trust, arrogance, and fear. Teach us Father to spend time in your Word, in time silently sitting before you, drinking from your well of love, wisdom, and holiness. Help us to see our spiritual need FOR you Lord before we lift our material needs TO you.  Amen.
