Julie Alsep

Julie grew up in Lynchburg and learned of God's love through her next-door neighbor who took her to Bible school and choir practice.  She loves being able to assist the families and staff at Timberlake. Julie's favorite books/podcasts are The Bible, Pillars of the Earth, and To Kill a Mockingbird. In her spare time, she loves to travel, going to the ocean with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Susan Blanks

Before Timberlake, Susan spent the previous twenty years at Campbell Co Schools . While working at Timberlake, she knows there is a special sense of purpose. Her favorite books are Chasing God by Angie Smith, A Heart Like His and Feathers from My Nest by Beth Moore. In her spare time, Susan enjoys cooking, traveling, and seeing new places. She also enjoys football, especially Virginia Tech.

Rebecca Swanson

Rebecca and her husband have been married for over 35 years and have 4 sons. They are blessed to also have 3 daughters-in-love and 3 granddaughters. Rebecca joined us in 2014 and has worked in many areas of our program including a floating aide, before school care, infant care, 2-year-old teacher, and is now as Welcome Desk Attendant. In her spare time, she LOVES to be with her family, but especially her granddaughters. She also loves being outdoors, hiking, and helping others in need.

Carson D'Orio

Carson was born in Lynchburg. At age 5, she moved to Washington State for 4 years and then moved back to Lynchburg. She loves her mom's cooking and people who are kind. Carson loves how nice the staff is at Timberlake and working with the children and families at the CDC. She loves to travel, eat good food, and spend time with her family. She also likes to relax by binge-watching TV shows.

Beth loves being a part of the daily ministry and life of Timberlake and the CDC.  She grew up in Amherst County and graduated from Lynchburg College and worked as a CPA in Richmond and in Lynchburg before coming to Timberlake.

Beth's favorite books are The Shack by William Young, The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein, and Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Tony, and their children, Elizabeth and Spence (both are young adults), and their pug dog, Ranger.

Megan Knier

Megan grew up in Pennsylvania with her parents and four siblings. She is currently a student at LU and is pursuing a degree in Special Ed. She hopes to become a teacher in a school where she can encourage and love the students. She loves to get outdoors and hike whenever she can. She a huge fan of reading and has grown up attending her home church where she helped volunteer with the kids program. Her favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understandings. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will show you which path to take.”

Rebecca Jackson

Rebecca grew up in Bedford County and went to Liberty University for the nursing program but decided to follow her passion of working with children. She is a wife and a mother of two children.

When not at work, she spends her time with her family and is always on the water in the warm months. She loves Italian and Mexican food.

Jill Dent

Jill grew up in New York and moved to Lynchburg to attend LU. She graduated in May 2021 with a degree in Family and Consumer Science, focusing on Early Childhood, and minoring in Psychology. She has worked in childcare since graduating.

Jill loves to read, cook/bake, and travel. Her favorite food is Mexican and Italian. She loves to work with children to help them learn and grow.

Her favorite song is Amazing Grace and her favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 40:31 and Proverbs 3:5-6

Toddler Teacher

Mary Johnson

Mary  loves the passion and unity among the teachers and children at Timberlake. She grew up in Maryland and became a medical researcher in Las Vegas. Mary's son has been the most important impact in her life by reminding her about the strength and courage that she has when times are tough. She enjoys seafood, gardening and grooming flowers. When she makes mistakes, she knows to acknowledge them and learn from them. Being a mom is the most important thing that makes her excited and alive!

Libby Lankford

Libby's favorite bible story is when Jesus feeds the 5,000.

Libby is from Rustburg, VA and before coming to Timberlake, she was a Certified Nursing Assistant at Bedford County Nursing Home. She loves that we are one big family at Timberlake and she pretty much likes all food. Libby enjoys hanging out with her friends and family and going to fairs and local events.

Hannah is a senior at Liberty University pursuing a degree in Teaching English as a second language. Her dream is to teach children in other countries the English language as well as the love of Jesus. She has experience working with children of all ages. Her favorite color is purple and her favorite food is Kimbap, Korean Sushi.

Stephanie Smith

Stephanie has grown up in Lynchburg and graduated from LCA in 2018. She is currently a sophomore at LU and is studying Family and Child Development. She has been volunteering in her church’s nursery for 9 years and has babysat for many families for the last 6 years. Her favorite dessert is ice cream and her favorite food is spaghetti.

Donohue

Michelle has spent most of her Life in North Carolina. She moved to Lynchburg in 2021 along with her husband and son. In Michelle’s spare time you may see her walking her walking her dog, hiking or running. You may also find her relaxing at the beach.

Ericka Pyle

Ericka grew up in Virginia with her Parents and younger brother. She attends UVA Wise and is majoring in Education. She is also a cheerleader at UVA Wise. She enjoys helping others and being a light. In Ericka’s free time she enjoys being outside; hiking or walking with her mom. She also enjoys cheering on her brother at his baseball games.

Ericka’s favorite bible verse is Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in Heaven”.

Marina Narbis

Marina grew up in Nelson County and moved to Lynchburg in 2011. She attended college and is certified in Sign Language. She has a daughter and a playful dog. Since working in childcare, it has become her passion. When not at work Marina enjoys crafting, spending time with family and listening to music.

Skyler Ayres

Skyler is a Toddler Teacher in our Child Development Center. She loves working with children because it is her passion to help them grow and learn. She also works in the church nursery on Sundays.


Skyler grew up in Forest and loves reading (Harry Potter and thriller books), spending time with friends, and watching movies with popcorn!

Brenda Wilkerson

Brenda Wilkerson was blessed to be brought up in a Christian home with loving parents. She accepted Christ at a young age and is thankful to call Him her Lord and Savior. Early in her life, God placed it in my heart, to work with children. God gave her a career of 33 years as a public-school teacher and has granted her the privilege of working with the children at Timberlake.

Haley Cain

Haley grew up in Lynchburg. Her favorite foods growing up were green beans and french fries. While working at Timberlake, she loves being able to see the positive impact she has on the children.

Her favorite books/podcasts are Twilight, Harry Potter, Eleanor, and Park. In her spare time, she likes to watch movies, dance, and spend time with family.

Pam Cain

Pam is married to her husband Michael, and they have two daughters, Haley and Emily, who attended Timberlake UMC's Early Learning Center.

In her  spare time, she loves taking long walks, swimming, reading, and being with her family.

Kiannah Hyde

Kiannah grew up in Lynchburg and attends LU. She loves spending time with family and friends, especially if it involves music and the outdoors.

Kiannah has always had a soft spot for children and is constantly amazed by their joy.

When she is not around people, Kiannah is either running, walking outside, singing, or reading. Her favorite place to be is at church surrounded by believers and worshipping the Lord.

Karly is from Northwest Indiana where she graduated high school and worked as a paraprofessional in a special education early childhood classroom.


She moved to Lynchburg in 2020 to finish her degree in zoo and wildlife biology at Liberty University.

Crystal is from Amherst County. She has been in the child care field since she was 18. In her spare time, she loves to hunt, fish, and garden. Her favorite thing to can is spaghetti sauce.

Kristie is a graduate of Jefferson Forest High School and Longwood University. She retired after 30 years of teaching in Campbell County. This is her second year of working with the summer program. She enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and daughter-in-law. Her favorite color is blue and her favorite food is Mexican.

Vicki Yutzy

Vicki has a passion for helping children learn and watching them grow as children of God.

She has a daughter whom she enjoys spending time with. She also enjoys baking and being outdoors; whether it be going for walks or gardening.

Her favorite color is sea glass green and her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:7….And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Chris Smith

Chris and her husband move to Virginia -17 years ago from central Pennsylvania.  She has 3 kids.  My oldest (Erik) is in grad school in WY.  My middle (Noah) attends Nursing school at ETSU and my youngest (Lauren) attends JF.  Shen have worked at Timberlake for 10+ years. and has taught in both in the 3 and 4 year old classroom and as a substitute.  I enjoy watching my daughter play travel softball.  When enjoy traveling and the great outdoors.

Abigail Wilmington

Abigail spent her childhood as a pastors child and was very involved in community missions outside of Atlanta.  

She moved to Lynchburg when she was 12.  Prior to joining us at Timberlake, she worked at another local daycare for 4 years. She enjoys nature, time with her family, listening to music, traveling, and being a part of a community. Her favorite foods are Mexican and Italian. Her favorite bible verse is, “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” John 13:35.

Joelle Yutzy

Joelle is a part-time floating aide at Timberlake. She works wherever she is needed, such as cleaning and helping with pick-up. In 2020 she graduated with her Associates Degree of science and art from CVCC. She is currently attending Liberty University with the goal of being a children’s counselor. She loves working with children and sharing with them how much Jesus loves them. Outside of work, she enjoys being outside, and spending time with her mom.

Emma Porterfield

Emma grew up in Gretna, VA. She is currently attending Liberty University and is pursuing a degree to become a child life specialist. She hopes to have a future career at St. Jude hospital. She loves to read, garden, and watch movies in her free time. She loves to hang out with friends and attend a small group for Christian fellowship. She has worked in childcare, babysat, and nannied for several years. Her favorite verse is Psalms 46:10, and her favorite Bible story is Ruth and Joseph.

Karen Penalva

Karen married and moved to Lynchburg in 1993.  She and her hubby Lou, have three grown sons.   She has worked with adults with physical and mental challenges and taught preschool.  She stayed at home with her boys and returned to work when her youngest was in middle school.  Karen taught at a local Day School and was Children’s Ministry Director for 5 years. Karen and Lou attend Timberlake and participate in Life Groups. Karen enjoys reading, taking vacations with Lou and loves family time.  When her kids are at home and around the table she is happiest.

Laura Scott

Laura grew up in the Lynchburg area and is married with one daughter who lives in Richmond. Laura has many years experience working with children, and she also has her CDA for preschool. She enjoys traveling, concerts, reading books of all kinds, and the beach! She is an animal lover but cats are her favorite. Laura loves her time with the children and she enjoys watching them grow and learn. It is very rewarding!

Courtney has grown up in Lynchburg and has been a member at Timberlake all her life. She enjoys hanging out with friends and taking pictures as a side hobby. Some of her favorite childhood memories are those she created while playing with friends outside during long summer days. Her favorite books include Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, and Everything Everything.

Polly Smith

Polly grew up in Annapolis, Maryland and moved to Lynchburg while attending Liberty.  She graduated with a degree in elementary education in 2020.  She loves teaching! In her free time, Polly loves crafting and spending time with her family.  Polly accepted Christ as her Savior when she was five and has strived to live every day unto the Lord since.  Her favorite Bible verse is John 15:16.

Beckah Brady

Rebeckah grew up in Concord, Virginia.  Her passion for taking care of children started at a young age and has given her hope of one day becoming an Occupational Therapist for children.  She loves sunsets and spending time with her family.  Her favorite scripture is Isiah 30:21, “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, “This is the way I walk in it.”

Josalynn McClure

Josalynn comes to us from the hills of West Virginia. She is married and has 4 children. Josalynn has a BA from Glenville State College. She has been teaching since 2008 and is excited to be a part of preschool at Timberlake! Her favorite verse is Galatians 6:9, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Chanel Williams

Chanel was born in Norfolk, VA then to later transition to Richmond VA where she grew up. She then finished school in 2006 and worked in childcare from then on. Chanel moved to Lynchburg to attend Liberty University in 2009 and she has called Lynchburg home ever since. Chanel attends the Ramp Church and has been a foster parent for the last 5 ½ years. Becoming a foster parent was the best decision she has made today. She loves children and can’t wait to continue her journey at Timberlake!

Sarah Rosser

Sarah was born in Pennsylvania and also lived in Michigan before moving to Lynchburg almost 25 years ago. She is married and has two sons. Her older son is 24 and lives in Richmond, and her younger son is 17 and a senior at Brookville High School. She has over 20 years of experience in early childhood education and has spent the last 14 years as the Lead Pre-K teacher and Co-Director at a local preschool.

Ashley graduated from BHS this year and is attending Central Virginia Community College in the fall to pursue a degree is teaching Elementary education. She has enjoyed working with children ever since middle school. Her favorite things to do are hanging out with her friends, cooking with her mom, and watching 9-1-1 and 9-1-1 Lonestar.

Ellie Revercomb

Gabriella grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Lynchburg when she was 16. She graduated from Timberlake Christian High School in 2014 and then completed 2 years at Liberty University studying social work. Gabriella is very passionate about helping children to have healthy relationship with others and understanding God’s love. Gabriella’s favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:28, “For those who love God all things work together for good.”

Victoria Thomas

Victoria grew up in Concord, VA where she attended a small Methodist Church and accepted Christ into her life. Since then she has been working with children of all ages and backgrounds, serving where the Lord leads her. Victoria is CDA certified and plans to continue her education to better serve children and families. When she is not at work she enjoys the outdoors - kayaking, fishing, camping, and trail riding. She loves crafting and watching movies with family and friends. Her favorite Bible verse is 2 Peter 3:9 because it reminds her of how patient, loving, and good our Heavenly Father is.

Skylar Wright

Skylar grew up in Lynchburg, VA and is a senior at the University of Lynchburg. She is married to her husband Brandon and they have a dog, Ellie. She has attended Timberlake for 5 years and also serves on the AV team. Her favorite things to do are shopping, watching Friends and Criminal minds, and going to the beach. Her favorite bible verse is Luke 43:2.

Gabby grew up in Woodbridge, VA. She is currently in school for a nursing major and special education minor at The University of Lynchburg. When Gabby is not in school, she likes to cook, spend time with friends and family, and read. Her favorite author is Jodi Piccoult, and her favorite book is Small Great Things.

Allie Mays

Allie is originally from Amherst County and is currently attending Liberty University where she is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. She previously worked at a childcare facility and has experience with ages ranging from 2 years old to school age children. In her free time, she loves spending time with friends and watching movies. Her favorite bible verse is Luke 1:37, "For with God nothing shall be impossible".

Becca has worked at TUMC for the past 5 years. This will be her 6th summer and she is so excited. She loves music and outdoor activities. Her favorite thing about working with kids is getting to watch them experience new things.

Alexis is a Lynchburg local. She is currently enrolled at Liberty University pursuing a degree in Strategic Communications. She loves building relationships with all the children. Outside of work she dedicates her time to volunteering as a life group leader for middle school girls and managing multiple social media accounts.

Lizzy is a senior at Lynchburg College, studying Elementary Education. This is her third summer working at TUMC. She is very excited about seeing everyone and is looking forward to having a great summer!
