Rebecca Swanson

Rebecca and her husband have been married for over 35 years and have 4 sons. They are blessed to also have 3 daughters-in-love and 3 granddaughters. Rebecca joined us in 2014 and has worked in many areas of our program including a floating aide, before school care, infant care, 2-year-old teacher, and is now as Welcome Desk Attendant. In her spare time, she LOVES to be with her family, but especially her granddaughters. She also loves being outdoors, hiking, and helping others in need.

Susan Blanks

Before Timberlake, Susan spent the previous twenty years at Campbell Co Schools . While working at Timberlake, she knows there is a special sense of purpose. Her favorite books are Chasing God by Angie Smith, A Heart Like His and Feathers from My Nest by Beth Moore. In her spare time, Susan enjoys cooking, traveling, and seeing new places. She also enjoys football, especially Virginia Tech.

Beth Francis

Beth loves being a part of the daily ministry and life of Timberlake and the CDC.  She grew up in Amherst County and graduated from Lynchburg College and worked as a CPA in Richmond and in Lynchburg before coming to Timberlake.

Beth's favorite books are The Shack by William Young, The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein, and Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Tony, and their children, Elizabeth and Spence (both are young adults), and their pug dog, Ranger.

Carson D'Orio

Carson was born in Lynchburg. At age 5, she moved to Washington State for 4 years and then moved back to Lynchburg. She loves her mom's cooking and people who are kind. Carson loves how nice the staff is at Timberlake and working with the children and families at the CDC. She loves to travel, eat good food, and spend time with her family. She also likes to relax by binge-watching TV shows.

Megan Knier

Megan grew up in Pennsylvania with her parents and four siblings. She is currently a student at LU and is pursuing a degree in Special Ed. She hopes to become a teacher in a school where she can encourage and love the students. She loves to get outdoors and hike whenever she can. She a huge fan of reading and has grown up attending her home church where she helped volunteer with the kids program. Her favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understandings. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will show you which path to take.”

Grace Bondurant

Grace grew up locally in the Lynchburg area with her 3 older siblings and 3 beloved dogs. Outside of work Grace enjoys spending time with friends and family, crafting, playing volleyball, and reading. Grace’s favorite book is Where The Crawdad’s Sing by Delia Owens. Grace is part of the Brookville High class of 2022 and the Radford University class of 2026. Grace has volunteered and worked with children since the age of 12 and grew up here at Timberlake Church. Her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 23:1-4, which talks about guidance and strength.

Parker Morrison

Parker grew up in Lynchburg, VA. She graduated from Brookville High School in 2021 and is currently attending James Madison University with a major in kinesiology and a minor in pre-physical therapy. In her free time, she loves to play volleyball. In addition to playing for fun, she is a member of the women’s club volleyball team at JMU.

Rebecca Jackson

Rebecca grew up in Bedford County and went to Liberty University for the nursing program but decided to follow her passion of working with children. She is a wife and a mother of two children.

When not at work, she spends her time with her family and is always on the water in the warm months. She loves Italian and Mexican food.

Jill Dent

Jill grew up in New York and moved to Lynchburg to attend LU. She graduated in May 2021 with a degree in Family and Consumer Science, focusing on Early Childhood, and minoring in Psychology. She has worked in childcare since graduating.

Jill loves to read, cook/bake, and travel. Her favorite food is Mexican and Italian. She loves to work with children to help them learn and grow.

Her favorite song is Amazing Grace and her favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 40:31 and Proverbs 3:5-6

Toddler Teacher

Mary Johnson

Mary  loves the passion and unity among the teachers and children at Timberlake. She grew up in Maryland and became a medical researcher in Las Vegas. Mary's son has been the most important impact in her life by reminding her about the strength and courage that she has when times are tough. She enjoys seafood, gardening and grooming flowers. When she makes mistakes, she knows to acknowledge them and learn from them. Being a mom is the most important thing that makes her excited and alive!

Lexi Montenegro

Lexi grew up in Amherst County. Her passion for working with children thrives from her own experiences as a child. She was a CNA and recently had a calling to change career paths. Lexi has 3 rescue cats. She enjoys playing with her cats, painting, writing, and music in her free time. She lives by her favorite Bible verses, “ Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it” Proverbs 4:23 and “ Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough troubles of its own.” Matthew 6:34

Julie Matthews

Julie grew up in Indiana, and moved to Missouri to attend college, where she met her husband and earned a Bachelor of Science degree. Julie and 

her family lived in Sydney, Australia as missionaries before moving to Anaheim, CA, where she worked as the Children's Ministries Director, taught 

kindergarten, and taught grade school. She and her family then moved to Lynchburg where she began early childhood teaching in 2001. She enjoys spending time with family and reading - especially the Epistles of Paul, as he is an inspiration to her.

Devon Timm

Devon grew up near Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Lynchburg in 2022. She graduated from a small college in Ohio with her bachelors in communications, but has always had a heart for teaching. While she was in college she was a preschool teacher and nanny. She has a passion for shaping young minds and showing them the love of Jesus. When Devon’s not working you can find her outdoors – weather that’s in a hammock, roller blading, or curled up with a good book! Oh, and with an oat milk latte from Starbucks!

Marina Narbis

Marina grew up in Nelson County and moved to Lynchburg in 2011. She attended college and is certified in Sign Language. She has a daughter and a playful dog. Since working in childcare, it has become her passion. When not at work Marina enjoys crafting, spending time with family and listening to music.

Destiny Ochs

Destiny grew up in Rustburg Virginia where she attended Rustburg High School. She began playing football at the age of 6 and continued until she ended her career with a state championship title. Destiny attends the University of Lynchburg where she studies elementary education. She enjoys drawing, shopping, and watching Netflix in her spare time. Destiny’s favorite Bible verse is Psalm 23:4; “ Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.” Destiny says this is her favorite verse because it has helped her through the toughest times in life.

Stephanie Smith

Stephanie was born and raised in Lynchburg, VA. She graduated in December 2021 from Liberty University with a Bachelors degree in Family and Child Development and a minor in Psychology. Stephanie loves working with children and has been volunteering in her church nursery since she was 10 years old. When Stephanie is not at work she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Michelle Moore

Michelle grew up in Bedford County on a farm. She went to cosmetology school at Brookville High School, but she soon realized that her heart was with the children. Michelle has 3 daughters of her own.

Skyler Ayres has worked at Timberlake for several years with experience working with all ages. She believes that most of life’s problems can be solved with a dance party! She is passionate about her love of books, beaches, and teaching children about the Lord.

Brenda Wilkerson

Brenda Wilkerson was blessed to be brought up in a Christian home with loving parents. She accepted Christ at a young age and is thankful to call Him her Lord and Savior. Early in her life, God placed it in my heart, to work with children. God gave her a career of 33 years as a public-school teacher and has granted her the privilege of working with the children at Timberlake.

Haley Cain

Haley grew up in Lynchburg. Her favorite foods growing up were green beans and french fries. While working at Timberlake, she loves being able to see the positive impact she has on the children.

Her favorite books/podcasts are Twilight, Harry Potter, Eleanor, and Park. In her spare time, she likes to watch movies, dance, and spend time with family.

Pam Cain

Pam is married to her husband Michael, and they have two daughters, Haley and Emily, who attended Timberlake UMC's Early Learning Center.

In her  spare time, she loves taking long walks, swimming, reading, and being with her family.

Kiannah Hyde

Kiannah grew up in Lynchburg and attends LU. She loves spending time with family and friends, especially if it involves music and the outdoors.

Kiannah has always had a soft spot for children and is constantly amazed by their joy.

When she is not around people, Kiannah is either running, walking outside, singing, or reading. Her favorite place to be is at church surrounded by believers and worshipping the Lord.

Karly is from Northwest Indiana where she graduated high school and worked as a paraprofessional in a special education early childhood classroom.


She moved to Lynchburg in 2020 to finish her degree in zoo and wildlife biology at Liberty University.

Crystal is from Amherst County. She has been in the child care field since she was 18. In her spare time, she loves to hunt, fish, and garden. Her favorite thing to can is spaghetti sauce.

Kristie is a graduate of Jefferson Forest High School and Longwood University. She retired after 30 years of teaching in Campbell County. This is her second year of working with the summer program. She enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and daughter-in-law. Her favorite color is blue and her favorite food is Mexican.

Vicki Yutzy

Vicki has a passion for helping children learn and watching them grow as children of God.

She has a daughter whom she enjoys spending time with. She also enjoys baking and being outdoors; whether it be going for walks or gardening.

Her favorite color is sea glass green and her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:7….And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Chris Smith

Chris and her husband move to Virginia -17 years ago from central Pennsylvania.  She has 3 kids.  My oldest (Erik) is in grad school in WY.  My middle (Noah) attends Nursing school at ETSU and my youngest (Lauren) attends JF.  Shen have worked at Timberlake for 10+ years. and has taught in both in the 3 and 4 year old classroom and as a substitute.  I enjoy watching my daughter play travel softball.  When enjoy traveling and the great outdoors.

Abigail Wilmington

Abigail spent her childhood as a pastors child and was very involved in community missions outside of Atlanta.  

She moved to Lynchburg when she was 12.  Prior to joining us at Timberlake, she worked at another local daycare for 4 years. She enjoys nature, time with her family, listening to music, traveling, and being a part of a community. Her favorite foods are Mexican and Italian. Her favorite bible verse is, “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” John 13:35.

Joelle Yutzy

Joelle is a part-time floating aide at Timberlake. She works wherever she is needed, such as cleaning and helping with pick-up. In 2020 she graduated with her Associates Degree of science and art from CVCC. She is currently attending Liberty University with the goal of being a children’s counselor. She loves working with children and sharing with them how much Jesus loves them. Outside of work, she enjoys being outside, and spending time with her mom.

Emma Porterfield

Emma grew up in Gretna, VA and comes from a long line of teachers. She is currently attending Liberty University and is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. She has a passion for helping kids grow and sharing God’s love to them. She has worked for several years in different childcare atmospheres and wants to continue to do so in the future. She enjoys gardening, reading, animals, and anything Disney. Her favorite verse is Psalms 46:10 and her favorite Bible story is Ruth.

Karen Penalva

Karen married and moved to Lynchburg in 1993.  She and her hubby Lou, have three grown sons.   She has worked with adults with physical and mental challenges and taught preschool.  She stayed at home with her boys and returned to work when her youngest was in middle school.  Karen taught at a local Day School and was Children’s Ministry Director for 5 years. Karen and Lou attend Timberlake and participate in Life Groups. Karen enjoys reading, taking vacations with Lou and loves family time.  When her kids are at home and around the table she is happiest.

Laura Scott

Laura grew up in the Lynchburg area and is married with one daughter who lives in Richmond. Laura has many years experience working with children, and she also has her CDA for preschool. She enjoys traveling, concerts, reading books of all kinds, and the beach! She is an animal lover but cats are her favorite. Laura loves her time with the children and she enjoys watching them grow and learn. It is very rewarding!

Courtney has grown up in Lynchburg and has been a member at Timberlake all her life. She enjoys hanging out with friends and taking pictures as a side hobby. Some of her favorite childhood memories are those she created while playing with friends outside during long summer days. Her favorite books include Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, and Everything Everything.

Polly Smith

Polly grew up in Annapolis, Maryland and moved to Lynchburg while attending Liberty.  She graduated with a degree in elementary education in 2020.  She loves teaching! In her free time, Polly loves crafting and spending time with her family.  Polly accepted Christ as her Savior when she was five and has strived to live every day unto the Lord since.  Her favorite Bible verse is John 15:16.

Beckah Elliott

Rebeckah grew up in Concord, Virginia.  Her passion for taking care of children started at a young age and has given her hope of one day becoming an Occupational Therapist for children.  She loves sunsets and spending time with her family.  Her favorite scripture is Isaiah 30:21, “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, “This is the way I walk in it.”

 

 

Chloe Simpson

Chloe is a Lynchburg native who loves the local community. She attended Brookville High School and currently attends college remotely through ETSU. Her hobbies include playing volleyball and spending time with friends. Her favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Chanel Williams

Chanel was born in Norfolk, VA then to later transition to Richmond VA where she grew up. She then finished school in 2006 and worked in childcare from then on. Chanel moved to Lynchburg to attend Liberty University in 2009 and she has called Lynchburg home ever since. Chanel attends the Ramp Church and has been a foster parent for the last 5 ½ years. Becoming a foster parent was the best decision she has made today. She loves children and can’t wait to continue her journey at Timberlake!

Sarah Rosser

Sarah was born in Pennsylvania and also lived in Michigan before moving to Lynchburg almost 25 years ago. She is married and has two sons. Her older son is 24 and lives in Richmond, and her younger son is 17 and a senior at Brookville High School. She has over 20 years of experience in early childhood education and has spent the last 14 years as the Lead Pre-K teacher and Co-Director at a local preschool.

Ashley Hudson

Ashley graduated from BHS this year and is attending Central Virginia Community College in the fall to pursue a degree is teaching Elementary education. She has enjoyed working with children ever since middle school. Her favorite things to do are hanging out with her friends, cooking with her mom, and watching 9-1-1 and 9-1-1 Lonestar.

Ellie Revercomb

Gabriella grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Lynchburg when she was 16. She graduated from Timberlake Christian High School in 2014 and then completed 2 years at Liberty University studying social work. Gabriella is very passionate about helping children to have healthy relationship with others and understanding God’s love. Gabriella’s favorite Bible verse is --Bible verse is, Psalm 63:1, “You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.”

Victoria Thomas

Victoria grew up in Concord, VA where she attended a small Methodist Church and accepted Christ into her life. Since then she has been working with children of all ages and backgrounds, serving where the Lord leads her. Victoria is CDA certified and plans to continue her education to better serve children and families. When she is not at work she enjoys the outdoors - kayaking, fishing, camping, and trail riding. She loves crafting and watching movies with family and friends. Her favorite Bible verse is 2 Peter 3:9 because it reminds her of how patient, loving, and good our Heavenly Father is.

Guilianna “Guili” Cambeletta

Guili was originally born in Orlando, FL but grew up in Lynchburg. She has always loved working with children and has dreamed of being a teacher her whole life. She loves spending time with her family and friends. Guili is currently studying Elementary Education at Liberty University. Her favorite Bible verse is 2 Corinthians 3:18 because it talks about being transformed into Jesus’ image. That is her main goal in teaching children. Transform them into the image of God.

Kristin grew up in Collinsville, Virginia. She attended Liberty University and graduated with a degree in English and Minor in Youth Ministries. She has worked at Summer Camp programs since she was 13. Kristin enjoys reading and hiking. Her favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 16:13-14.

Alexis Hargis

Alexis is a Lynchburg local. She is currently enrolled at Liberty University pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. Building relationships with the children is her favorite part of the job. Outside of work, she dedicates her time to her friends and helping the community.

Jennie grew up in Conyers, GA. She got her undergraduate degree in Child and Family Development at Georgia Southern and is in graduate studies at Louisiana State in social work. In her free time, Jennie loves being with family and relaxing by the pool or playing softball. Her favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, “says the Lord”, They are plans for good and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope.”

Deborah grew up in Georgia and moved to Lynchburg Virginia , just over a year ago. In her free time Deborah enjoys baking, singing, relaxing in her hammock, and spending time with her parents and 8 siblings. Deborah is currently pursuing her Elementary Education degree at Liberty University.

Her favorite bible verse is Ephesians 2:8 GSV. She has been working with children in various ways over the past 5 years.

Elia grew up in Arizona and then moved to Lebanon when she was 12 year old. She got involved with her local girl scouts and went on to lead small groups. She is currently completing her Bachelors of Education for
Elementary aged students and hopes to one day teach Middle School Mathematics. When she is not studying, Elia likes to paint, draw, and dance. Elia's favorite place to be is spending time with family and friends.

Terry Lee

 Terry Lee is from Woodbridge, Virginia. He moved to Lynchburg to attend the University of Lynchburg  and run track. He majored in Elementary Education and minored in English in 2017 and received his masters in Educational Leadership PK-12 in 2019. He currently coaches track for the University of Lynchburg and is receiving his second masters in Early Childhood Special Education. He loves sports, playing and watching.

Courtney LaMontagne

Courtney grew up homeschooled in Illinois in a family with ten kids. She started volunteering at her church at eight years old. She has loved children throughout her life and she has been a babysitter, nanny and school bus driver. To relieve stress, Courtney likes to take walks in the woods while talking to God and admiring his handiwork and drawing and journaling. Her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 23. It was her first verse that she memorized and it has brought her comfort through hard times.

Colby grew up locally in Lynchburg, Virginia. He is currently attending CVCC
and is pursuing a degree in Computer Science. He enjoys anything sports related. His favorite place to travel to is sunny Florida. In his free time he enjoys playing golf.

Jordon Farrow

Jordon grew up in Lynchburg and graduated from E.C. Glass High School where he did band all 4 years. He is a drummer and continues to give back to E.C. Glass as a drum instructor since 2018. Jordon is also an Instructional Assistant at Hutcherson Early Learning Center during the school year and really enjoys working with children. His favorite Bible verse is "Love the Lord your God with all your heart...Love your neighbor as yourself" Matthew 22:37-39.
