STUDENTS
Welcome to the Mill at Timberlake Church!
We believe that every student is loved by God and because of God’s love we are able to grow in relationship with God and with others. The Mill – Student Ministries is here to inspire every middle and high school student to reach, feed, release others to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ.
ABOUT STUDENT MINISTRY
STUDENT MINISTRY DIRECTOR
Makayla grew up in California but lived in seven states and five countries. She graduated from LU in 2021 with her undergrad in Theology and Creative Writing; she is also continuing her education at LU. As Director of Student Ministries, Makayla is staying in the family business as both of her parents have been pastors and missionaries well before she was born. She began her solo ministry at eleven to bring the Gospel to all who needed to hear it. With her entire foundation and experience in ministry, she desires to provide a Biblical foundation for the students of Timberlake while creating deep and personal connections with each individual…and, of course, providing some fun! Makayla also had the unique experience of working with The Walt Disney Company, where she was a Skipper on The Jungle Cruise. Makayla is an ENTP whose love language is dark-roast coffee, “Who done it” movies, and classical literature. She is also the self-proclaimed “Crunchy Youth Director,” as she is passionate about teaching to an individual’s unique learning style, homemaking within the church walls, and utilizing all that God gives us to live a holistic, healthy life.

MEET KATINA
My name is Katina King and I have two beautiful daughters, Kassidy and Ally. I’m from Brookneal, VA & lived in Gladys, VA, a good portion of my life. I moved to Lynchburg in 2004 and have called Forest my home for almost ten years. I started working in children’s ministry when I was 15 years old, helping my aunt “Cat” with her Sunday School class and assisting in the nursery. Soon after, my cousin & I started leading Children’s Church for 3-5-year-olds. It was then that my love of teaching children God’s word developed. I worked in Children’s Ministry for nine years at Timberlake and started working in Student Ministries in 2016 when my oldest daughter was in 7th grade. It is an honor and a privilege to walk alongside your students as they journey through Middle & High School. I believe it is important to nurture students in their relationship with the Lord and help them grow deeper in their faith. Encouraging family relationships at home helps to strengthen the partnership between parents and our leaders. It is my hope for your Student to leave high school with a firm foundation in Jesus.

WHAT'S IT LIKE
The Mill is a movement of middle and high school students who come together to love God and to love one another. As a ministry of Timberlake Church, we offer our students an environment of exploration and encouragement in their walk with God and their journey in life. We exist to serve God and each other. We are all about having fun as we learn and grow in our love for God and service to others. Students engage in times of worship, prayer, Scripture lessons, fun games, and activities. Our leaders are here to encourage every student in their walk with God. We believe that we are better together and provide a space for every student as we grow In our faith as a community.
